Your AI assistant, now fluent in renewals

Two things change the number for India before I run this: the filing route, and whether you qualify as a discounted entity (natural persons, startups, small entities and universities pay a fifth of the regular fee). Renewals only become payable once granted, so a grant five years out sets when they start.

iPify prices INR 384,000 (≈ EUR 3,466.72) in official renewal fees over the 20-year term. India's annuities accrue from the 3rd year but fall due only after grant, so the first bill lands at grant: years 3 to 6 come due together, INR 16,000 by 2031-12-14. The annuity then steps up, INR 12,000 a year for years 7 to 10, INR 24,000 for years 11 to 15 and INR 40,000 for years 16 to 20, each with a six-month grace period and a year of restoration behind it. The same INR 384,000 (≈ EUR 3,466.72). India charges every annuity from the 3rd year whenever grant comes, so a later grant moves the bill rather than shrinking it: years 3 to 11 come due together, INR 88,000 by 2036-12-14, then INR 24,000 a year for years 12 to 15 and INR 40,000 for years 16 to 20. Ten payments instead of fifteen.

INR 76,800 (≈ EUR 693.34) for the same 15 renewals, one fifth of the regular schedule: the first bill at grant drops to INR 3,200 and the 20th-year annuity to INR 8,000. The dates do not move.

You can still pay. The 6th-year annuity due 2026-06-01 is in its six-month grace period until 2026-12-01: the AUD 315 fee plus a AUD 400 late surcharge, AUD 715 (≈ EUR 444.33) if paid now. After 2026-12-01 payment closes and the patent lapses; restoration is a separate application, open until 2027-12-01. The timeline below shows each window and what it costs.

Four offices, three fee logics. GB, DE and FR count renewals from the filing date, so the plan alone fixes their timing; GB and DE halve the fee under a licence of right. JP counts from grant, and the fee grows with the number of claims; small entities pay less and the first three years can go as one lump sum. Before I send this to iPify: direct national filings in all four, or an EP application validated in GB, DE and FR? When does the first family go in? 288 official renewal fees totalling EUR 22,920, GBP 8,880 and JPY 1,023,600, ≈ EUR 39,002.49 at the recorded exchange rates. The first fee falls due 2027-10-31 and the last inside the horizon 2036-07-31.
